Recruit Information

11 Kompanie is not your average reenacting society. Doing a WW2 German SS unit is a touchy subject to say the least- with the direct attachment to the evil Nazi regime during WW2, the Waffen SS is always painted in a negative light- and most say rightfully so. Our intention is to remind people of what happened during those years- those that choose to forget history are doomed to repeat history- good or bad. To that end, we participate in many public forums- both as an educational tool, and to "play" the bad guy in public reenactments for military public, and private events.

With that said, If you are interested in coming out to an event, email us and we will be glad to help set you up. Our Kompanie has a unit loaner pool with enough uniforms and gear to outfit 8 new guys at one time. We allow up to 1 year to acquire the necessary gear and uniforms, and will loan you the proper gear at each event until you acquire your own- this is not a cheap hobby, and complete packages can run upwards of $1800.00. If you have any questions about any specific gear, feel free to email me and I will try to answer your questions.

For those Recruits who have attended an event, below is a "help section" to get you started. This series of articles was written with the new reenactor in mind- hopefully you will find it helpful. I suggest you do not buy anything for reenacting until you have tried it- it isn't for everyone, and the cost of equipment could be wasted.

As a rule, we require members to be in generally good health- this is to protect you. We do a lot of physical activities and move through hilly terrain and wooded areas frequently. Our unit does a lot of campaign style reenacting- that is we camp primitive (no tents, cots, sleeping bags, or modern gear),and we try to utilize the vehicles we own in a historically accurate way. We also require a written parental permission form for members under the age of 18- this is a requirement, not an option. Due to the obvious nature of the hobby, NO FELONS ARE ALLOWED- PERIOD. We have active law enforcement officers as part of our group, and checking people out is not a problem. We also do not tolerate any type of political speech at our events- i.e. current politics, or past politics. We especially do not tolerate "skin head" types- which has never been a problem for us due to our focus on history and military life instead of politics. We are directly related to the Texas National Gaurd Military Museum in Austin, Texas, and have members that are part of the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana.
