ENLIST!
New to reenacting? Good. The more inexperienced you are, the more accurately you can portray a typical Soviet soldier! Most Russians in the Red Army didn’t get much, if any training before they were handed a rifle, a few rounds, and sent to the front line to face Hitler’s finest. If at any time you are running around with us wondering “what the heck am I doing?” just know that you are feeling some of the same things that a typical soldier might have felt in the same situation.
A veteran to reenacting? Great! We need some tough “frontoviks” to give the group some experience. Even if your experience is from doing impressions of other countries or other wars, and you would like to try your hand at Soviet reenacting, we have a place for you in the 20th Guards.
The 20th Guards is not a static organization. We engage in various activities that include camping outside, drilling as a team, actively learning history, constructing historical settings, and ultimately, engaging in public or private battle-type scenarios, either as a team, or against other groups (Texas has one of the largest German Reenactment Societies). We encourage the participation of anyone willing to show an active interest in what we are doing.
This site will be a good place to learn about our organization, as well as link up with other reenactors and do what we do best, learn about history.
If you are ready to join the Glorious Red Army (reenacted) then please send an email to darksparrow@juno.com for more information. Please keep in mind that we are not a political organization, nor do we support, encourage, or condone anyone who claims to represent the Communist ideal. We are simply trying to present a page of history from the perspective of a very real people; a people who just like Americans, fought for their country, their family, and their way of life.
